Rebellion: WWII is Fresh Again

Sniper Elite developer, Revolt, reckons the world is ready for to a greater extent WWII games.

Coif you remember when the ordinal-soul triggerman securities industry was saturated with WWII-themed shooters? I do. It was a terrible time. You couldn't go more Phoebe minutes without tripping over a game with "honor," "obligation" Beaver State "heroes" in the deed of conveyance. Then Modern Warfare came along, and we every listed in our M1 Garands for ACRs, and left Normandy for the unoriginal, war-torn streets of Madeupistan. Incomplete a decade and a gargantuan pile of ordinary first-person shooters later, tied that setting is starting to get a minute dog-tired.

It seems Rebellion Developments is hoping to spearhead a WWII revival meeting with the approaching Sniper Elite V2.

When asked if he was troubled about the market dominance of modern shooters similar Field 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Revolt's Steve Lorenz Milton Hart responded:

"I think the grocery store is ready for Second World War. You've seen the extra imperativeness the likes of Red Orchestra 2 have gotten because all of a sudden WWII is a intimation of fresh melodic phrase whereas modern conflicts perhaps aren't."

"I wouldn't enjoin developers moved on, instead they gave information technology the respect IT needed and said 'Right, we've through with that to dying, let's go take something other,'" he continued. "Information technology just indeed happens that our timing for a Worldwide War Deuce halt is better than others out there, and gamers are ready for that now. Flat break for us is that we're coming out before perhaps some other Call of Duty set during World War Two, as I'm sure we'll be seeing another ane of those at some point."

Personally, I find it gently unsatisfying that developers see their choice of settings as essentially a giant toothed wheel pedal with "Modern," "WWII" and "Indistinct Dystopian Future" left-slanting on it. I mean, hey, it's not like mankind has had any other wars in its long, storied history.
